Thaman delivers Mass music

The very title must have got Thaman give foot-tapping numbers.  Added to the title, Ravi Teja is the one doing the 'power' role.  So, don't expect anything less than a sure-short mass album.  And this one is exactly that.

With lyrics coming from Bhaskarabhatla to Yadgiri to Sirivennela to Krishna Chaitanya, the lyrics are bound to be nothing less than eclectic.

The vocals are alright, with none other than Ravi Teja and Chakri leading the pack.  Adnan Sami and Karthik deliver a dekko as well.

Devuda Devuda Listen Now

Artist: Adnan Sami
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

Adnan Sami is back to pamper and take pot shots at god at once.  Ravi Teja is back beseeching god big-time the way he did in that legendary number from 'Khadgam'.  Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar's lyrics seem to be aimed more at school-goers rather than the grown-up.  Thaman's tuning is all fine, helped in no small measure by Adnan Sami's eminent vocals.

Badmaashu Pilla Listen Now

Artists: Chakri, Bobby, Chaks, Varikuppala Yadgiri
Lyricist: Varikuppala Yadgiri

Looks like whatever Chakri sings he successfully makes it appear that he tuned the song.  Chakri's booming voice makes this Thaman number, otherwise quite in the tradition of Ravi Teja-style rumbustious number, a special one.  The musician has modelled the song to fully befit Ravi Teja's attitude on the screen.  There is that mocking at the heroine, like in a Puri Jagannadh film.  Varikuppala Yadgiri's lyrics come with colloquial lingo and the same is the song's biggest mass appeal.

Notanki Notanki Listen Now

Artists: Ravi Teja, M M Manasi
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

The beats may be as old as the oldest living music director, but the song has that irresistible appeal.  The biggest takeaway is Ravi Teja's voice, which sounds like a Chakri-meets-Thaman snatch.  MM Manasi matches up to Ravi Teja's energetic rendition.  The format of the number stands out for its Bollywoodish flavour.  Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar's lyrics come with double entendre.  They are creative though sans any lyrical richness.  Easily, this one is the album's best, what with 'Power' coming along with the most memorable double entendre in recent times.

Champesindhe Listen Now

Artist:  Karthik
Lyricist: Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry

Thaman scores a number that is melodious with a melancholic touch.  At times, it sounds like a snatch from a Dookudu number, but acquires its own body as it progresses.  Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry's emotion-laden, poetic lyrics are the best part of this number.  Tune-wise, it is an odd one out in the album, as it has no mass appeal whatsoever.  Karthik's excellent rendition is an icing on the cake.

Nuvvu Nenu Janta Listen Now

Artist: Sooraj Santosh, Malavika
Lyricist: Krishna Chaitanya

Well, everything from the tuning to the instrumentation is sure to induce a sense of deja vu.  Krishna Chaitanya's lyrics are full of romantic feel and meaning (that is, double meaning) as usual.  Looks like the director wanted to extract something like the Extraordinary number from 'CGTR'.  Whatever, Sooraj Santosh's vocals are a relief, so also Malavika's putative voice.

The album is a package for the fans of Mass Maharaja, who wouldn't demand musical richness when it is their favourite hero who is jiving.
