Pouran
Jayaram is one top actor who is looking forward for success these days. The rest of his contemporaries have had at least one good show in recent times to suit their billing.
Pouran has all the ingredients of a masala potboiler. Directed by Sundardass, the film pits Jeyaram as an honest politico up against his compatriots who are venal and wily.
Jayaram plays the role of Divakaran, whose father, an upright Leftist leader, by his own men who are corrupt. Divakaran's mother, a simple woman, ends up as an MLA and Divakaran too comes off age as a politician. His rising popularity is not liked by the vested interests in the party. So what happens to Divakaran? Is he finished off by the old bandicoots or does he manage to get the better of the system? Well, watch Pouran.
Geetu Mohandas, plays Annie, Divakaran's friend and love interest. But she end up marrying Thomas (Riyaz Khan), a cunning MLA. This is the sub-plot of the story.
The cast includes Kalabhavan Mani, Vijayaraghavan, Urmila Unni, Jishnu, Sai Kumar and KPAC Lalitha.
The script is by Sajivan and songs by Gireesh Puthenchery. Music is by Raghu Kumar and Shanki Mahendran, son of noted cameraman Balu Mahendra, has handled the camera.
