Alex Paul has a good time at the hit charts as his films are at the top one after another. After making every songs of Classmates at the top of the hit ladder, he is again making another remarkable music for the new film for Mammootty, Pothen Vava.
The album holds many specialties as Usha Uthup wields the mike once again after ages for herself, bringing the nostalgia of the old songs. The songs has an eastern flavor with light beats and chenda making as the prominent instruments. The poetic versus is by Sarath Vayalar and here are another tracks for quality music followers. 1. Manjaadi Manimutham
The album opens with this beautiful love number rendered effectively by M G Sreekumar and Jyostna. The song flows in succession with flawless music of typical Kerala rhythms, giving you the notion that this is nothing less than a worthy track of the album. A love song with Sreekumar back to her best form, it is also accompanied by Kerala orchestra and setting.
2. Vaave Makane
The voice singing Vaave seems reminiscent to you until you discover that it is Usha Uthup, the pop diva who is heard after a long time. This is the best in the album with Usha Uthup and Madhu Balakrishnan rendering an old fashioned song. The voice of Usha suits the needed tempo of the song. Music is set to bare minimum and it's the lyrics and rendition that is of more prominence here. Here credit goes to Alex Paul and Vayalar Sarath for making an album completely in sync with the feel and mood of the film that tells the story of a proud and rhetoric mother and his vagabond son.
3. Vave
The same song in a remix version sung by Afsal, Madhu Balakrishnan, Pradeep Palluruthi and Ramesh. The remix version with more chorus works and western beats makes you jump, and feel to became a chart topper
4. OMKAARA
M G Sreekumar and co excels in this song which starts with a classical base that keeps you wondering whether it is truly a work of art of Alex Paul which has not been into this forte. The lyrics are like jewels, embellishing the music. .
5. Neraane
Another song with festival moods and chorus sung by Madhu Balakrishnan, Afsal and Manjari. The novel ingredient that sets the tracks apart from one another is also admirable as the vocals used.
6. Classical song
This is a shorter song which will be in all probabilities be a part of the background music.
All together a good work by Alex Paul, who had avoided more of western natured instruments and tried for something genuine.
Another great highlight of the album is definitely Madhu Balakrishanan who has given his voice to many tracks in the album. He definitely make you feel that he is an able substitute to the king of melodies of Malayalam, K J Yesudas who is not giving his voice to more film music now a days.
