Following requests from the honchos of the Tamil Film Producers Council that the title of the Sundar C starrer Porukki is derogatory, the producer and the director of the movie Sakthi Chidambaram opted to go for a title change.

He rechristened the movie as Adhirudulae. However not convinced with the new name, Sakthi Chidambaram has changed the title as Mahamagam.

According sources close to the director, the movie is set in Kumbakonam, a place where the annual Mahamagam temple festival is very famous. Hence they have chosen it as the title for their movie.

Mahamagam stars Sundar C and a Malaysian girl Ragini in the lead roles. Nadhiya and Vivek play prominent roles in the film.
