As was expected, Poru Telangana released yesterday to much adulation from socio-political activists in the region. Theatres screening the movie were decorated as if they were sites of some cultural programme. The movie was watched with a religious fervour in some parts of the Telangana.

The on-going Telangana agitation forms the film's backdrop, which sees K Chandrasekhar Rao in a cameo. The TRS's leader's statement before the film's release, that it is purely based on the struggle, proved that it has the political endorsement of the main protagonist of the now nationally-significant movement.

Poru Telangana's release is timed with the release of two other T-themed films, Inkennallu and Jai Telangana. However, the Narayana Murthy film has come to occupy the centre stage.

The film has got some dialogues to discourage student suicides and inspires the student community to fight for Statehood peacefully, without foolishly taking away their lives.

This stand of the TRS leadership as well.
