Popular Tamil YouTuber, R. Porchezhiyan, who runs the channel 'Saapattu Raman' on YouTube, has been arrested on charges of illegally treating patients with Covid-19 symptoms and other ailments as well without the necessary qualifications or training required to do so.

The 60-year-old YouTuber has been treating patients at a clinic he owns in Koogayur village near Chinnasalem. Health Department officials have also seized used syringes, medicines, tablets and injections from his possession. The Health Department officials have sealed the clinic and registered a complaint against the man for quackery with the Keelkuppam police.

Porchezhiyan reportedly only holds a Bachelor of Electro-homeopathy Medicine and Surgery (BEMS) degree, which is not a required qualification in the treatment of Covid-19. The man has over 1.05 million subscribers for his YouTube channel.
