Popular singer Jyotsna Radhakrishnan is a household name among Keralites. An avid social media user who often voices up for social issues, recently took to her social media handle to pen a thought-provoking note on aging. In no time, the post went viral on the internet.
Jyotsna's Instagram post reads
"So recently I’ve been noticing messages and comments on my stories and posts about how I look “different” without make up and hair done . That i look “old” . A young boy who must be not more than 14 , says that I must be old enough to be in my 30s (sorry to break it, little one, am a proud 35 year old). ??
This isn’t just my experience alone. Am sure so many women here resonate with me when I say this. We are most often deemed to be “ less desirable” once we pop out a kid or start greying, thanks to years of misogyny .
My dear young boys and girls ,ageing is a natural process . We all grow old. And beautifully enough, with age, comes wisdom. With age, comes experience . With age, comes the realisation that none of this matters . Your only goal has to be good health, happiness and peace of mind .
So when u yourself pass on to the category of what you consider “old” , remember that the wrinkles, saggy skin and ache in the back are not what make you who you are. But it is what you learnt over the years , how you learnt and what you are going to make of it . Simple . Age is mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it really doesn’t matter. So chill Sara , Chill!! #ownyourwrinkles #ageingisbeautiful"
