After playing the negative role of that of a doctor in NBK 106, Poorna has been roped in to play the role of a lawyer in Venkatesh's upcoming remake, Drushyam 2. She will be stepping into the shoes of Santhi Priya, who played lawyer Renuka in the original starring Mohanlal and Meena.
A remake of the Malayalam thriller, Drishyam 2, the film marks director Jeethu Joseph's foray into Telugu cinema. The Telugu remake went on floors earlier this month and Poorna is expected to join the sets soon.
The film marks the sixth collaboration of Venkatesh and Meena after Chanti, Sundarakanda, Abbayi Garu, Suryavamsam and Drushyam. The sequel to the 2014 blockbuster also has Nadhiya, Naresh Vijaya Krishna and Esther Anil essaying their roles from the original.
The story of Drishyam 2 revolves around a cable operator turned theatre owner, who outsmarts the cops investigating the murder of his elder daughter's classmate and the son of a former police officer, who dies accidentally during an attempt of sexual assault.
The Telugu remake will be wrapped up in 50 days and the makers are planning to release the film either in August or September.
