Poonam Kaur gives clarity on Rahul Gandhi holding her hand

Last week, Poonam Kaur participated in the Congress leader’s ongoing political Yatra. The Wayanad MP was in Telangana when he was seen holding her hand. 

The pic became viral on the Internet after a BJP functionary named Priti Gandhi made an offensive comment about the pic making an insinuation. Priti’s tweet was completely tasteless, Netizens said. Many, including BJP supporters, have come to the defense of Poonam by calling out Priti’s below-the-belt tweet. 

In her tweet, Poonam clarified why Rahul had to hold her hand during a walkathon a crowded road. She said, for those who don’t know, that she was about to have an accidental fall. “This is absolutely demeaning of you, remember prime minister spoke about Nari Shakti – I almost slipped and toppled and that’s why sir held my hand,” she wrote. 

The actress used the opportunity to impress upon Rahul the need for handloom weavers-friendly policies.
