She was one of the most promising among the actresses who were introduced in the last decade. She was one rare breed of good looks and great talent together. But it seems that the film industry has lost Pooja Umashankar to the corporate business world.

Pooja, after her first film ‘Jay Jay’ did make heads turn and was doing films with known big stars like ‘Attagasam’ with Ajith, ‘Thambi’ with Madhavan, ‘Pori’ with Jeeva,’ Oram Po’ with Arya and more. She was even gaining popularity in Malayalam and Sinhala films.

Now news has come saying she has quit films and settled in Bangalore. Sources assume the reason to call it a day in Kollywood must have evolved after her much expected 'Naan Kadavul' failed to give her the much deserving big break. She was even expected to win the National Award for her character as the blind girl Hamsavalli. In her last film in Tamil, 'Drohi' she was seen in a special appearance.

All the disappointments have together pushed her to leave cinema behind and take up a job as the Business Development Manger of a world famous IT firm in Bangalore. She is also rumored to have even married a software professional and her husband wanted her to quit cinema.

Pooja always clarifies her position if a story appears on her that is not true. We hope the lovely lady tells her side of this story.
