Tamil audiences love to attach the name of the films their most favorite actors and actresses with them and hence the highly talented Parvathy is known as 'Poo' Parvathy her debut film in which she made a huge impact. On screen apart from her body of work in Malayalam she has unflinchingly matched actors of the caliber of Dhanush and Kamal Haasan in 'Mariyaan' and 'Uttama Villain' and off screen too she is a self proclaimed feminist who boldly lends her voice for causes of her gender.

Parvathy even in the early stages of her career made a bold statement that she did not want her caste name to follow her name and has also been quite forthcoming in talking about such sensitive issues as the casting couch.  Recently she expressed her dissent at Mega Star Mammootty telling a woman character that he will break her menstrual cycle in 'Kasaba'. Needless to say fanboys roasted her on social media with a high degree of abuse but she remains unperturbed and has the courage to stand by her opinion that a powerful medium like cinema should be more sensitive in portraying women.

It is indeed a great act of courage by Parvathy becoming a voice against misogyny from her own field which will work in a long way for change rather than coming from the outside.  She has found herself in the lists of women of the year in many publications and sure deserves it as she has proven that she is not only a Poo but also a Puyal.
