Mani Ratnam began shooting his dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan ' based on the epic novel of the same name written by Kalki in Thailand from December 1st last month and continued for one full month. The latest update is that the first schedule has been successfully completed with Karthi and Jayam Ravi who play Vanthiya Thevan and Arul Mozhi Varman.

It is said that the second schedule of 'Ponniyin Selvan' will begin soon and Chiyaan Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who play Aditya Karikala Cholan and Nandhini respectively will join the sets. The magnum opus that has music score by A.R. Rahman has the ensemble cast of Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Jayaram, Lal, Sarathkumar, Ashwin Kakamanu and others.

'Ponniyin Selvan' is produced on a grand scale with one of the biggest budgets in Indian cinema by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.
