After 'Raachasa Maavaya' and 'Sye', it is time for yet another song from Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan-I'. The news is that the song 'Alanai Neekai' from the AR Rahman-composed album was released a while ago. Rendered mellifluously by Antara Nandy (whose voice sound like Shreya Ghoshal's), its lyrics have been written by Anantha Sriram.
At about five minutes, the slow-paced melody establishes the character played by Aishwarya Lekshmi, the "mellow and mesmerizing" song from the epic period action film brings out the exquisite poetic mindset of Poonguzhali, also known as Samuthirakumari, a boat woman living in Kodikarai. She is the Princess of the Ocean.
The film features Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Parthiban, Rahman, Lal, and others. The historical, based on a Tamil novel, has action choreography by Kecha Khamphakdee and Sham Kaushal.
The Lyca Productions product is going to hit the screens on September 30. Dil Raju is releasing the Telugu version.
