Mani Ratnam to re-start shooting for 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'

Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' aka 'PS-1' which hit the screens worldwide on September 30th has turned out to be the biggest blockbuster hit ever in Tamil cinema history. The film has grossed more than rupees five hundred crores worldwide and is still going strong in most territories.
It was officially announced that Mani Ratnam completed both the parts of the epic film based on Kalki's novel of the same name. It is now reported that the celebrated filmmaker has planned to shoot a few crucial scenes for 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'. According to sources the new scenes will be shot for around seven to ten days and the process of procuring dates from the multi star cast has begun.
'Ponniyin Selvan 2' has Jayam Ravi in the title role with the all star cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakkamanu, Lal, Kishore and Jayaram. The film jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras talkies with music by A.R. Rahman is slated for release worldwide on April 28th, 2023.
