'Ponniyin Selvan 2' is all set to storm the silver screens on April 28. The terrific success of part 1 has doubled the expectations for the audiences. Now, the latest is that PS-2's theatrical release got extra special as the makers announced that the magnum opus movie will also be released in '4DX' format.
4DX is a technology involving theatre seats and practical effects. It allows films to be augmented with various effects including motion seats, wind, water sprinklers (rain), strobe lights, simulated snow, and scents. But there are very limited screens in India to experience Ponniyin Selvan 2 in this format.
Currently, no screens in Tamil Nadu are equipped with the 4DX features due to govt cap on ticket prices. The multiplexes will not upgrade or introduce new formats without the removal of the cap on ticket pricing. So, people in TN will have to go to Bengaluru, Kochi, Trivandrum or Hyderabad to watch PS2 in 4DX on multiplex screens.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 is directed by Mani Ratnam and based on author Kalki's epic novel of the same name. The historical fantasy film stars Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Ashwin, Sarathkumar, and others. With music by Isai Puyal AR Rahman, PS-2 is slated to hit the screens on April 28 in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.
