Mani Ratnam's dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan' was released last year and became the number one blockbuster hit movie in Tamil cinema history. It has been announced that the second part of the epic will be released on April 28th this year and promotions have already begun.
Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan graced the grand audio launch event of 'PS-1' held in Chennai and there is great curiosity over who will be the chief guest for the audio launch of 'PS-2' that will happen in a couple of weeks time. According to reliable sources Lyca Productions owner Subaskaran and Mani Ratnam held a discussion and decided to approach Thalapathy Vijay to participate as chief guest.
It is well known that when Mani Ratnam first tried to make 'Ponniyin Selvan' in the early 2000s he signed Vijay, Mahesh Babu and Vikram among others to play the lead roles. He cast Vijay as Vandiyathevan now played by Karthi. The project could not take off due to the heavy budget involved at that time. We will know soon if Vijay accepts the invitation as he has flown back to Chennai after completing a two month long shooting schedule of Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo' in Kashmir.
'Ponniyin Selvan 2' has music by A.R. Rahman and stars Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Nizhalgal Ravi, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, Rahman, Kishore, Riaz Khan, Prakash Raj, Ashwin Kakkamanu, Mohan Raman, Balaji Sakthivel and others.
