Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' has been receiving rave reviews from the audience, and the film is garnering huge collections worldwide. 'Ponniyin Selvan' is the adaptation of the eponymous novel written by Kalki, and the film's first part was released in theaters on September 30.

As per the inside trade reports, 'PS1' surpassed the Rs 300 crores mark worldwide at the end of day 6 (October 5). Today, the makers officially announced the same through social media. Sharing a new poster saying that the film has grossed more than 300 crores, they wrote, "Success beyond boundaries! Thank you for this tremendous response" (sic).

Several Tamil releases that were slated to release today (Oct 7th) were postponed due to the strong occupancy of 'Ponnniyin Selvan', and the film is doing well in all five languages as well. Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi and Jayaram played the lead roles with music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman.
