The Congress-led Govt. in Pondicherry has decided to file a 'contempt of Court' petition on Monday (02nd April) with the Supreme Court against the BJP-led Centre on the issue relating to the setting up of Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
Centre hasn't shown any interest in setting up the CMB, despite directions of the apex Court to the Centre to set up the Board by 29th March, thus irritating the people of Pondicherry, Kerala and Tamil Nadu though Karnataka has openly said that it was against the setting up of the Board. Farmers in Delta Districts in Tamil Nadu are shell-shocked at the Centre's continued apathy towards them.
Govt. of Tamil Nadu is contemplating the possibility of filing a 'contempt of Court' petition against the Centre even as the ruling AIADMK is to sit on a day-long fast on Monday (02nd April) to protest against the Centre on the issue.
Pondicherry chief-minister Narayanaswamy has stated that action would be taken soon as the State hasn't received any response from the Prime Minister to a letter sent in this regard. "We shall soon file a contempt of Court petition with the apex Court against the Centre; it will be done on Monday itself and we are not going to go back on this decision," Narayanaswamy told newsmen yesterday.
