The Coimbatore court after hearing the custody petition filed by the CBCID has granted four days police custody of the Pollachi rape accused Thirunavukkarasu for further inquiry. The hearing was conducted via video conferencing and the order was passed.

Thirunavukkarasu and his gang members Sabarirajan, Vasanthakumar and Satheesh are accused of running a sex racket in which they befriend young and older women on social media lure them to a private place and videotape sexual acts. They then reportedly used the footage to blackmail the women and extort money from them. They are allegedly involved in several rape cases too and were apprehended after a teenage girl lodged a police complaint with a video evidence which has been circulated in the social media.
