Politics, 'Baahubali-2' & Rajamouli

While the likes of 'BBC' and 'Los Angeles Times' are talking about 'Baahubali-2', the film hardly needs international (read Western) approval. Millions of Indians, regardless of the region, are taking pride in the movie for various reasons. In terms of popularity, it has always been unprecedented, what with even Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning Kattappa in one of his election rallies in March.
With the magnum opus throwing up themes/motifs/images related to Indian culture, it has become a matter of national pride now.
It is, thus, not surprising that the AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said that every Telugu should become a Baahubali during an address to a gathering of NRIs.
A PM and now a CM have made references to Rajamouli's movie to drive home different points. Soon, we may see opposition leaders also using the film's theme in their own style during political speeches. Rajamouli himself could be approached by a couple of political parties to endorse them in the run-up to the 2019 polls.
