A police officer in Texas, James Riley, helped a young boy get home after a concerned citizen indicated that he was walking alone in an empty parking lot. The boy said he had been going to a shop to buy snacks for his younger sibling. When Riley took the child home, he was devastated to hear about the family’s financial troubles. The officer then went to a nearby grocery store and bought the children snacks, and the parents easy to cook meals.
Riley also taught the kids the importance of not leaving the house alone unaccompanied by an adult. The Austin Police Department took to Facebook to appreciate the officer’s kindheartedness. A commenter shared their personal experience with Riley saying: “His parental instincts kicked in to motion. I have the honor of calling him a good friend for close to 20 years. He’s a great dad and good officer.” This is truly a heartwarming gesture from the policeman. Not only is he a great dad and officer, he is also a great human being.
