What is it all about

Vidya Balan in `Dirty Picture' said movies run for three reasons `entertainment, entertainment and entertainment'.. in the same way `Policegiri' is watchable only for three reasons `Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Dutt'...

Yes the prolific Tamil helmer K.S. Ravikumar (Dasavatharam) could have opted for a much better and innovative premise for his bollywood debut then remaking the 2003 Tamil blockbuster `Saamy'.. yes the veteran producer T.P. Aggarwal could have searched for some creative minds to work for his next after Swen (2012).. Yes `Policegiri' further glorifies over the top, heavy, ear drummers designed to please those masses who come to watch their `hero' on screen no matter the logics and law of gravity going on toss... so what.. Sanjay Dutt nails it for his diehards..

The Story

If you are still interested to know the story then here it goes it follows the massy crowd pleasing structure set against a police versus underworld backdrop in the small town of Nagapuram situated on the Maharashtra-Andhra Pradesh border.

The movie sees Sanjay Dutt in the role of a roughneck cop DCP Rudra Aditya Devraj who doesn't mind bending the law to bring criminals to justice. In order to restore peace to the town he has to face a comic villain Prakash Raj who plays the role of the main antagonist Nagori Subramaniyam. Nagori wields total control in the Southern states thanks to his links with some powerful politicians.

Rest doesn,t matter as the writers Hari (story) K.S. Ravikumar (screenplay) without wasting any intellect and energy simply follow the formulaic trend prevailing in bollywood for years which still finds viewers in its centers...  mind it..

What to look out for

It sticks to its genre and the massy feel.. there is something for the over the top entertainment souls.. Sanjay Dutt is entertaining and pleases his fans.. he carries the film on his shoulders as easily as his trade mark walk.. K.S. Ravikumar does a fair job.. Prachi Deasi is ok. Mukesh Tiwari, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav are fine.

What not

Sanjay Dutt the brand ambassador of bollywood most dignified series `Munnabhai' doesn,t need a mash up of Dabangg and Singham to prove his heroics an actor.. he may require that as a star.. and that is not a good news.. yes we all want Sanjay Dutt back but majority of cinegoers  would want Sanjay Dutt of Munnabhai, the Raghu of  Vastav, A.C.P Prithviraj Singh of Kurukshetra, the Kancha Cheena of Agneepath to be back...

Conclusion: Policegiri is filled with over the top masala bolywood giri where Sanjay Dutt makes it watchable for his diehard fans.
