Elon Musk's speedy rollout of the new "X" logos to Twitter created an unexpected twist at the company's headquarters. While the logo appeared on the site overnight, during removal of the sign outside the building, there were some challenges.

On Monday afternoon, police arrived just as workers were trying to take down the huge sign "Twitter" lettering on the building. The problem was caused by a large worker lift, also known as a "boom lift," used to dismantle the letters and which space it occupied on the street.

The San Francisco Standard reports that the Police Department for San Francisco stopped the sign removal work and engaged in conversation with the workers. After receiving a report from an apparently permissive street closure caused by the lift outside Twitter’s headquarters, police responded to the area and seemingly concluded no crime had been committed therefore taking no action to investigate or otherwise resolve what amounted to be a mere incident as reported by The San Francisco Standard.

The Market Street office employees were shocked since they did not know that the sign was being removed. The workers showed up with the lift and started dismantling the sign, causing traffic troubles. Police rerouted traffic and temporarily suspended the process of sign removal.

Even though the lift was just removed, the sign still shows the full "Twitter" name on one side — with that other side showing only the letters "er." Seeing how Twitter's new branding with that "X" logo ultimately is fully realized on that physical sign outside headquarters will be interesting.
