Making people laugh is not an easy job. Baburaj must have understood this very well with his recent outing on theatres `Police Maman'. A movie intended to make you chuckle; this hardly qualifies into anything than buffoonery.

The movie has Baburaj as Shankaranunni , a lackadaisical Dy SP in the Kerala Police. Married to Lekshmy (Sunitha Varma), the only daughter of a senseless politician from Tamil Nadu , Shankarannuni loves to be at home named `Pulikkattil' doing agriculture and  taking continuous medical leaves than to serve his duty or investigative crimes. But as the murder of a college student named Roy Mathew happens in his area, and one of his relatives Nambeeshan(Vishnu) is being arrested for the crime, Shanakaranunni is forced to take charge of the investigation. How he sorts out the mystery forms the rest of the movie.

Though with a workable plot lines, the movie suffers from idiotic execution. The makers seem to in confusion whether to plan it as a thriller or a light hearted comedy. They try to pack the movie with an unwanted tinch of humour  at all situations, but none of them gives space for a decent laugh. Much of this buffoonery moves in par with the other serious investigation track.

Baburaj appears terribly misfit for the character, moulded according to his recently acquired comic image  and his every attempts to make you laugh falls flat. The other idiotic characters around simply make this movie a terrible thing to watch. Adding to this is poor camerawork from K V Suresh, graded pathetically and editing by V saajan. Anwar Aman comes up with his share of songs, which are pictured in the most unimpressive visuals. With all other technical sides pretty average, Police Maman' doesn't have any chance in the Box Office.
