An Infosys employee in Bengaluru was arrested by the City Crime Branch for a social media post telling people to go out, sneeze and spread the Coronavirus. "Let's join hands, go out and sneeze with open mouth in public. Spread the virus," reads the offensive post of Mujeeb Mohammad, the Infosys employee.
Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner, Bengaluru, has said that the person has been detained and a case registered.
Infosys had conducted an internal inquiry into its employee's social media post on Friday. "Infosys has completed its investigation on the social media post by one of its employees and we believe that this is not a case of mistaken identity. The social media post by the employee is against Infosys' code of conduct and its commitment to responsible social sharing. Infosys has a zero tolerance policy towards such acts and has accordingly, terminated the services of the employee," the company said.
Soon after Mujeeb's post went viral on social media, there arose a hue and cry.
