Complaint filed against Nayanthara’s ‘Annapoorani’ for hurting religious sentiments - Deets

Lady Superstar Nayanthara completed 75 films in cinema recently with 'Annapoorani'. The milestone film directed by Nilesh Krishnaa got a mixed response during the theatrical release. However, Annapoorani gained much attention upon its OTT release on Netflix.

According to the latest reports, former Shiv Sena member Ramesh Solanki filed a complaint against 'Annapoorani' in Mumbai for hurting the Hindu sentiments. This caused a stir. The movie is facing backlash from many religious people for certain scenes. Nayanthara plays an aspiring chef, hailing from a Brahmin family in the film and Jai plays her Muslim boyfriend.

The story is about how Annapoorani struggles to cook non-veg and finally becomes a chef. Nayanthara performs the Islamic prayer before cooking in one of the scenes in the film. In his complaint, Ramesh Solanki mentioned that this movie hurt Hindu sentiments and promoted love jihad and pointed out that Jai says Lord Ram is a meat eater in a scene.

Sharing a copy of his complaint, Solanki said, “I have filed complain against #AntiHinduZee and #AntiHinduNetflix. At a time when the whole world is rejoicing in anticipation of the Pran Pratishtha of Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir, this anti-Hindu film Annapoorani has been released on Netflix, produced by Zee Studios, Naad Sstudios and Trident Arts.” (sic)
