It was a high drama at director AR Murugadoss' residence on Thursday night. In the wake of the controversies surrounding some portions in 'Sarkar' (against which AIADMK party workers have protested in parts of Tamil Nadu), the director was sought to be "arrested" by the police. Some policemen arrived at the director's residence last night, knocked on the door and went away as he was not there.
"Police had come to my house late tonight and banged the door several times. Since I was not there they left the premises. Right now I was told there is no police outside my house," ARM tweeted out.
However, the police have denied that there was a plan to arrest the Tamil director. "How can we arrest him without an FIR registered against him? There was no intention to arrest him," a cop has been quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, sections of industry people and civil society have slammed the police. Vishal said, "Police in Director Murugadoss' home? For what? Hoping and really hoping that nothing unforeseen happens. Once again. Censor has cleared the film and the content is watched by public. Then why all this hue and cry?"
Khushbu Sundar said, "What and who gives the rights to those who oppose and indulge in violating the freedom of a filmmaker once the same has been okayed by the CBFC? It just shows how scared, petty minded bull crappers these thugs of TN are.. even a fractional fiction hits them pretty hard."
