In connection with a case related to the death of his wife Priyanka, actor Unni P Dev, son of late Malayalam actor Rajan P Dev was grilled by the Police on Tuesday. The relatives of Priyanka alleged that she was forced to suicide due to the domestic violence she suffered from Unni and in-laws. Priyanka had filed a complaint at Vattappara police station on May 11 alleging domestic violence. The next day, she was found hanging at her home.

Following the complaint, an investigation was going on and after several days, Unni has been arrested by the Trivandrum Police. On Tuesday, Police arrived at Unni Dev's house in Ernakulam district and took the actor into custody. The actor has been charged with 498 A and 306 of the Indian Penal Code.

Unni, the younger son of Rajan P Dev, and Priyanka got married on November 21, 2019. Theirs was a love marriage after they met at Thodupuzha. Three months after their wedding, Priyanka was frequently tortured physically and mentally, says her relatives. Several times she was even brought back to her home. Reportedly, Unni and her mom used to frequently demand money from Priyanka and her family as dowry.

Unni became a known face in Malayalam cinema after playing vital roles in movies like Idi, Rakshadhikari Baiju, Aadu 2, Mandaram, Janamaithri, and Sachin.
