A private school English teacher was arrested by Tambaram police under the POCSO Act for allegedly eloping with an underage student. The accused is identified as Hepzibah who works in a school near Sholinganallur. She eloped with a student of Class XI from the same school.

According to the cops, Hepzibah had separated from her husband a few years ago and was romantically involved with a 17-year-old boy from the same school. The student did not return home from school on Tuesday, leading to his parents filing a missing person complaint with the Thalambur police.

The subsequent investigation traced Hepzibah and the student to Karamadai in Coimbatore through their mobile phones. The police promptly located and brought them back to Chennai, resulting in Hepzibah's arrest under the POCSO Act. The authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

This unfortunate incident underscores the importance of maintaining a secure educational environment and taking decisive action against any misconduct involving teachers and students.
