Jassie Gift, the gifted musician had been instrumental to change his regular ways whenever he has attempted for a song with veteran Padmashree Dr. K J Yesudas. Some of his best known songs like 'Snehathumpi' or 'Neelathadakangalo' had a different melodious platform that catapulted those songs to immediate hits. Now after establishing himself as the most demanded voice in Southern music circuit, Jassie Gift is back to Mollywood with the songs for `Pokkiri Raja', the new Mammootty-Prithviraj starrer. And even for this racy movie, Jassie has earmarked one melodious song for Yesudas which is sure to become the chart topper.
1. Song: Manikinavain
Impressively sung by K J Yesudas and Sujatha, the song is a winner form the word go. This is one of the best songs rendered in the sound of Yesudas in the recent times. The lyrics by Kaithapram also are admirable with very direct, simple lines that are easy on ears. This melody song is very well orchestrated to ferry the listener to a different globe and stand apart from normal Jassie numbers, putting forward an irresistible piece for repeat hearing
2. Song: Kettille, Kettille
Sung by Vijay Yesudas, Prithviraj and Ridhya, the song is another fast number .Set in that typical Mathura beat, the singers has infused the energy for this foot tapping number in typical heavy Tamil'ish orchestration. Prithviraj as a singer is most admirable in this song who matches with Vijay Yesudas in every count. Pictured as a marriage song with Mammootty and Prithviraj dancing for its tunes, the song is already a chart topper. The song is repeated with the voice of Anwar replacing Prithvi in the repeat tracks. Both the versions are good and fine.
3. Song: Manickya Kallil
Jassie, Malathy and Ananthu sing this feverish number patterned like dance songs of Vijay films. The composer himself gets behind the mike and enthralls with this boisterously voiced hip-shaking track. The song has interesting deviations in the middle with soft melody interludes. Malathy's voice appears a bit jarred, but Ananthu in the opening bit is excellent. The 'dhol' beat pattern music makes a pertinent set of rhythmical moves all through, to deliver out rapturous festive feel on the floors.
4. Song: Chenthengil Ponnilaneeru
Renjith, Anwar, Suchithra, Ridhya croons this foot tapper. The song has the right mood of fun and the racy beats add to the effect. A sort of techno music that beats the ramp floor is the characteristic backup in the entire track with singers dominating the tracks
'Pokkirir Raja' is that much expected comeback from Jassie Gift, who seems to have done an excellent job in setting tracks that match a festive mood. Altogether an album meant for dance, Jassie Gift can list this album among his list of good ones. Presented by East coast, the album also contains some good songs for the movie 'Navagathan' set to music by Britto Simon.
