K Balachander’s Poi has been witnessing a torrid time. The movie, which is the 101st directorial venture of the veteran director, was completed long gap and was slated to hit the screens a couple of months ago. However due to several constraints, actor-cum-producer Prakash Raj chose to postpone the release of the movie.

Thankfully Oscar Ravichandran, who saw the movie, came to his rescue. He took up the distribution of the movie. The audio was launched with great fanfare and special screening for Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was also held last week raising speculations that it would grace theatres early this week.

Now the news is that Oscar Ravichandran and Prakash Raj have chosen to try their luck this Deepavali.

Amidst big movies like Vijayakanth starrer Dharmapuri, Silambarasan’s Vallavan, Saran’s Vattaram, Sarath Kumar’s Thalaimagan, KB’s Poi will also run the race.

Plans are on to rope in Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth to promote the movie.

Poi features Uday Kiran, Vimala Raman and Geethu Mohandoss in lead roles and music is by Vidya Sagar.

There is a huge expectation on the movie as the promos are absolutely splendid.
