It has been officially announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be laying the foundation stone of the multi-crore Madurai chapter of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on 27th January. On the same day, the Prime Minister would also unveil the ‘Tejas’ state-of-the-art rail travel by Southern Railways on the Chennai-Madurai sector.
Branch of AIIMS (the country’s premier medical institution located at New Delhi) is to come up at Thoppur in Madurai and would be constructed at a whopping cost of Rs.1258 crores. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be laying the foundation stone for the construction of the premier hospital when he is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu (Madurai) on 27th January.
The multi-specialty AIIMS is to come upon a sprawling 200-acre land at Thoppur near Tirupparankundram, Madurai. The construction of the hospital is likely to take at least a couple of years.
The much-awaited super-luxury ‘Tejas’ rail service between Chennai and Madurai would be inaugurated by the Prime Minister at Madurai on the same day. While ‘Tejas’ would leave Chennai Egmore Railway Station each day at 0600 in the morning to reach Madurai at 0100 in the afternoon, the Madurai ‘Tejas’ would depart at 0230 pm to reach Chennai at 0930 pm.
