PM Modi thanks Mammootty!

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the people across the country to light up candles or torchlight at 9 pm on Sunday for 9 minutes to dispel the darkness spread by the coronavirus, several celebs came forward declaring their support for the Diya Jalao campaign. On Saturday, Mollywood's Megastar Mammootty too extended his support to PM. Through a Facebook live video, Mammootty requested the public to take part in the campaign as declaring support to the coronavirus preventive measures.

“When our country is battling against the pandemic coronavirus with unity, I would like to extend my best wishes to the unity lamp which will be lighted up in every house for 9 minutes on April 5 at 9 pm as per the request of Prime Minister. I wish everyone should take part in the campaign which expresses solidarity and brotherhood. I request you for the same,” said Mammootty in the video.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the actor for promoting and declaring his support for the campaign. “Thank you, Mammootty. A heartfelt call for unity and brotherhood like yours is what our nation needs in the fight against COVID-19. #9pm9minute,” tweeted Modi by retweeting Mammootty’s video message.
