Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with jawans of the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) at Gurez Valley in Jammu & Kashmir along the Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan.
Ever since he took over as the Prime Minister in May, 2014, Modi has been making it a point to celebrate Diwali with the armed forces personnel. This year, he chose the Gurez Valley situated on the border of Bandipora District in Kashmir along the Line of Control (LOC) in the company of jawans of the Indian Army and the BSF.
Dressed in Army’s camouflage attire over his usual pyjama-kurta, Modi congratulated the jawans for enabling 125 crore Indians celebrate Diwali in a peaceful and happy manner. “Your dreams and aspirations are our responsibility; the entire country would lend its shoulder to you in times of crisis,” Modi assured the jawans amid applause.
It may be recalled that Modi celebrated 2014 Diwali at the Siachen Glacier, world’s highest battle-field, with jawans. He celebrated the 2015 Diwali in Punjab along the Indo-Pak border with security forces. Last year, he was in Himachal Pradesh during the Diwali celebrations.
