Actresses like Lekshmi Menon and Tulasi Nair, who are under 18, received a positive ruling from the judiciary, when it dismissed a plea to ban actresses under 18 years of age. The petitioner, Muthuselvi of Tamil Nadu, had contented that young actresses faced psychological problems later on, and had sought the court's help to ban such 'underage' acting under the child welfare act. The petitioner pleaded the the likes of Lekshmi Menon and Thulasi Nair should be banned.
But the court ruled positively in favour of the young actresses, citing that it cannot thwart the aspirations and dreams of young women. The verdict thus allows young women to choose their career
