Post the lockdown, once Tirumala is reopened for pilgrims, as many as 30,000 devotees will be able to have the darshan of Lord Venkateswara, on a daily basis. Usually, up to 1 lakh devotees would visit the holy temple in normal times. Thanks to the necessity of social distancing, the temple simply can't operate at full capacity.
Speaking to The Print, TTD chairman YV Subbareddy has said that thermal screeners, sanitization of the temple premises after every slot of devotees come and go, etc. will be operationalized once the temple reopens. When sanitization is going on, darshan would be cancelled for a certain amount of time.
"We will hold a drill with our employees to see whether this can be carried out successfully before opening up the temple for devotees," YV Subbareddy tells the portal.
The lockdown has meant a loss of Rs 200 Cr for the TTD.
