Karthik Subburaj's forthcoming Vijay Sethupathi and Remya Nambeesan starrer 'Pizza' is making waves these days. Expectations are running high due to its trailers and teasers which presents soul stirring music, stunning cinematography and crisp dialogues.
Although it is termed as romantic thriller the director states that 'Pizza' has more elements than any normal romantic thriller. If one takes notice then, thriller as a genre has been used by very few Tamil directors and some are even remakes of other languages. On quizzed about this fact, Karthik says, Though there might be very few previous Tamil films pertaining to this genre, audience always have a special love for thrillers. Giving example of Manoj Shyamalan who is popular for his English thrillers, Subburaj added further 'Pizza' will be refreshing for the audience who are usually bombarded with movies of other genres.
For the records, in eighties there were very few romantic thrillers  Bharathiraja's 'Sigappu Rojakkal' and Balu Mahendra's 'Moodu Pani' - among others which are best till date in this genre. And in Malayalam its 'Poovile Vasalile' and 'Vellai Roja', which were remade in Tamil too.
According to Karthik Subburaj, making a thriller movie is always a tightrope walk as a powerful screenplay is important to engage the audience. He is confident that 'Pizza' has one such powerful screenplay that is not compromised to fit into usual movie making format. In his view the primary objective is to engage the audience with deeper involvement and make them to feel a part of the movie. He feels that audience who are watching Pizza will be entertained thoroughly. There are many critical components of 'Pizza' such as songs, sound, cinematography and Editing are world class to provide great viewing experience to the audience.
