Notably, Sriram/Srikanth, known for his roles in Roja Poolu and Okariki Okaru, joins forces with the talented Dia actress Kushee Ravi for this project, which also marks the directorial debut of Saikiran Daida. The film is being produced by Yeshwanth Daggumati under the banner of Kalaahi Media.
With the film's release just around the corner, the promotional activities have been kicked up a notch. On Diwali, the filmmakers shared some eerie experiences from the filming process.
Director Saikiran Daida reflected on his experiences, sharing the inspiration behind the story, which came from a chilling tale told by his grandmother. He believed that the horror genre was the ideal canvas to bring this narrative to life. The script evolved over time, and he, along with Kavi Siddartha, ensured that the film maintained a terrifying atmosphere with a scary moment every 10 minutes. Despite facing practical challenges and some unsettling incidents on set, the team persevered, maintaining a singular focus on delivering a thrilling horror film.
Working with child actors proved to be no easy feat, but the executive producer ensured that all requirements were met. Extracting performances from children during night shoots posed its own challenges. Easwari Rao's scheduling conflicts added to the hurdles, but the team remained resolute in sticking to the shooting schedule. Crafting a horror film is a technical challenge, but a capable team with a shared vision helped overcome these obstacles.
Sriram shared his perspective on Pindam as a genuine horror film, noting that the director's clarity of vision and commitment to the story set it apart. The film stayed true to its genre without diluting it with unnecessary commercial elements, offering a captivating and truly frightening experience.
Srinivas Avasarala highlighted his enthusiasm for working with young directors and teams, stating that it provides a fresh perspective on the craft. Pindam offered a valuable learning curve, and its screenplay promises to be the backbone of the film, filled with surprises.
Kushee Ravi detailed her preparation for the role of a pregnant woman in the 90s segment, which required her to put on weight. She embraced the opportunity to indulge in a diet-free lifestyle while adopting the appearance of a plump woman from a bygone era. The eerie ambiance on set also contributed to her immersion in the film's mood.
Kavi Siddartha, co-writer of the screenplay, emphasized the script's evolution and its ability to adapt to changing tastes, offering a fresh and engaging experience to the audience.
Cinematographer Satish Manoharan highlighted the synergy with director Saikiran Daida and the team's response to the challenges of making a horror film. Composer Krishna Saurabh expressed confidence that Pindam would live up to its 'scariest film ever' reputation. The film is set to unfold across three different timelines, delving into the present day as well as the 1930s and 1990s, promising a multi-layered and spine-tingling experience.
