Phalke Academy award to Bhagwan, well deserved

One of the epoch making films directors in Kannada SK Bhagwan of Dorai Bhagwan` duo gets the right honor of Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award for his contribution to Kannada cinema. In the 65 years of service in Kannada cinema as director, writer, heading various film institutions SK Bhagwan directed 49 Kannada films out of which 32 are starring icon of Kannada cinema Dr Rajakumar. SK Bhagwan is the only director to pick 24 novels from Kannada literature to adapt it on to silver screen. He has utilized 15 poems of great writers in his films. Teredide Mana Baa Athithi….of Gnanapeeth award winner Karnataka Rathna Kuvempu is one of the evergreen songs.

SK Bhagawan name for the award was suggested by Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce for such an award to veteran director.

SK Bhagwan has received a communication to his residence Anupama Arts Basaveshwaranagara on 17th May letter dated from Dadasaheb Phalke Academy.

On 148th Dada Saheb Phalke Jayanthi on Thursday, 1st June at 6 pm at Bhaidaas Auditorium Vile Parle West Mumbai, the trophy in memory of father of Indian cinema is presented to SK Bhagwan.
