Superstar Rajnikanth, fresh from the success of the Shankar directorial sci-fi thriller 2.0, is all set to return on silver screens in less than 50 days of its release, with his next, Petta. The Karthik Subbaraj directorial is the 165th movie of Superstar and has been scheduled to release on January 10, as a Pongal gift for his fans.

Petta, boasting of a huge cast that includes Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Trisha, Simran, Bobby Simha, and Megha Akash, had its audio by Anirudh launched on December 9, which has become a chartbuster, and the trailer of the movie, released on December 28, has received overwhelmingly positive response, raising the expectations of the diehard fans of Superstar Rajnikanth.

With less than a week left for the release of the movie, the makers of the movie, Sun Pictures have reportedly planned to organize a grand pre-release event for Petta in JRC Conventions, Hyderabad on January 6, as the movie releases in Telugu as well and it is expected that Superstar will grace the occasion with his presence.
