Jallikattu being stamped as cruelty evoked massive protests through TN that spanned a little over two weeks. After a hard-fought battle, an ordinance to allow the conduct of the sport was promulgated by the State Government.

To the rejoice and great satisfaction of all those who protested, Jallikattu was conducted and celebrated with joy through many parts of the State. While the official decision of the apex court still stands, PETA India, which was critical in the SC banning the sport, seems to retaliate further.

Now, the CEO of PETA India, Poorva Joshipura, has claimed to produce new evidence suggestive of Jallikattu's cruelty at the Supreme Court soon, in a bid to put an end to the atrocity that goes on in the name of tradition. While PETA remains unwelcome among the locals, Poorva's declaration will certainly provoke all those who fought heart and soul for their birthright.
