Actor Trisha made it clear that she is in favour of conducting Jallikattu, by taking part in the silent protest organised by Nadigar Sangam yesterday.
Last week she was abused in social media due to the perception that she will be against the traditional bull sport of Tamils since she has a long standing associationw ith PETA the NGO which has been instrumental in getting the sport banned by Supreme Court in May 2014. It is also a common understanding that Trisha is a Brand Ambassador of PETA.
Now PETA`s spokesperson V.Manilal has clarifed that Trisha has never been a Brand Ambassador of their organisation. They just used her for their campaigns against cruelty to dogs as the top heroine of Tamil cinema is a popular suppoerter of animal rights especially the dogs.
However Manilal has also criticised Trisha for her support to Jallikattu as it contradicts with her support to dogs and pet animals.
It is to be noted that the same organisation criticised Suriya`s support for Jallikattu as the actor`s effort to promote his upcoming film C3`. Suriya has just sent a legal notice to PETA to tender an unconditional apology for such an offensive comment.
PETA has projected Jallikattu as cruelty to bulls but Tamilians have proved that it is anything but violence and their protest has come close to success with the ordinance being passed to conduct Jallikattu soon.
