Union Home Minister Arun Jaitley has said that people of Gujarat have been whole-hearted in their support to the BJP in view of the historical all-round progress the State has made in many sectors during the past decade.
Exit polls conducted by television news channel ‘Times Now’ and journal ‘India Today’ have predicted the BJP retaining power in the State for the fifth consecutive term. The BJP’s top brass is obviously happy that they would be able to retain the stranglehold the party has in the Prime Minister’s home State.
Speaking to a television channel, Jaitley said “Congress can never beat us in Gujarat. Congress has always indulged on caste-based politics in Gujarat, neglecting the State’s progress. Rahul Gandhi is a leader who has tasted more defeats than successes. Under the BJP’s rule, Gujarat has registered unprecedented, historical progress in many sectors. ‘Gujarat model’ is sure to make the BJP victorious again.
“In my humble opinion, BJP is the only party in which perfect harmony prevails among its cadres who belong to various religions,” he observed on the day when the Election Commission finally revealed the date of polling in Gujarat which would vote in two phases on 09th and 14th December. Votes would be counted on 18th December along with the votes polled in Himachal Pradesh which would have voted in November.
