Sanjay Gupta is all excited. In exactly a month from now, the First Look of his much awaited film 'Shootout at Wadala' would be unveiled along with 'Race 2'.
This would also result in his name appearing as a director on the big screen for a full fledged feature film more than half a decade after 'Zinda'.
While this is indeed meant to be a euphoric moment for the filmmaker who had been longing to get behind the camera, how does he feel about the thought process of the industry towards him? Doesn't he feel that it would be tough for him to make his presence felt all over again?
"Yeah, after 'Musafir' and 'Zinda' there has been a seven year gap now and frankly, when a filmmaker is constantly butchered by a certain section of industry then lot of people forget.
Also, those who don't really want to forget, they are made to forget you. I had to get rid of that hurdle and trust me, I would be successful in doing that with 'Shootout at Wadala'", says Gupta.
Though the film is looking red hot today with the presence of John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Sonu Sood and Kangana Ranaut and an item number each by Priyanka Chopra & Sunny Leone, it wasn't without its casting hassles though.
Really, what does he feel was the reason that there were so many names considered but a game of musical chairs continued to be played?
Says Sanjay with a wry smile, "That was always the case for this film from the beginning. But then we too had this attitude from Day One that boss picture toh hum bana hai rahe, chahe kuch bhi ho. I was so much sure about the story I knew there was no way this would have been held back."
Now we look forward to the results on screen as this co-production of Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta releases all over on 1st May.
