After being in some indifferent form, G.V. Prakash showed what he’s capable of with a swashbuckling ‘Darling’. He has come up with one more project, where he dons the dual role of being the composer and the protagonist. Do read on to get an idea about what you can expect from, ‘Pencil’.

Yaarai Polum Illa Neeyum – G.V.  Prakash Kumar

Over the years, G.V. Prakash has grown as a better singer than a composer, and that’s quite evident on this opening track. The album throws a soft rock with predictable rhythms. The starting verses, ‘Yaarai Polum Illa Neeyum.. Ellor pola ulla naanum’ is very poetic. Both the interludes are lively, courtesy – Electronic guitars and steady drum beats. More than the tune, it is G.V’s passionate rendering gives the ‘kick’ to the song.

Why Machi Why – Tippu & Srihari

The album heads to a pedestrian track. We have heard this kind of tracks N number of times before and the lyrics too, do not add any values to the age old beat. One can skip this track and move to the next one.

Kangalile – Javed Ali, Shreya Goshal

For the first time, Javed Ali and Shreya Goshal have rendered together for a Tamil song and right away they have delivered an ultimate winner. G.V. Prakash has let his singers take control of his simple arrangements and rode on their splendid rendition to weave a sweeping melody. The mighty pick of the album.

LED Kannala – Hariharasudhan, Malavika Sundar

G.V extracts some left over from ‘Raja Rani’ and safely presented a mild ‘Kuthu’ number. Malavika outperforms her co-singer without any fuss, but the song gets over without making any impact. The visual might help this song to get extra mileage, but for the time being, this can be very well skipped.

Yaarai Polum Illa Neeyum - Reprise EDM Mix – G.V. Prakash

The EDM mix gives an alternate identity to the album starter and the composer has shown great variety once again to his singing abilities. On the whole, this track helps the album to end on a high.

Pick(s) of the album – Yaarai Polum Illa Neeyum, Kangalile
