The biggest sleeper hit in a long time, 'Pelli Choopulu' has completed 100 days of run. Released on July 29, it's one of the most talked-about Telugu movies of the decade.
Produced by Raj Kandukuri and directed by Tharun Bhascker, the slice-of-life rom-com has proved to be a major shot in the arm for its lead pair - Vijay Devarakonda and Ritu Varma - and actor Priyadarshi, who is currently doing a role in Mahesh Babu's next film.
Speaking at the success meet held at Ramanaidu Studios, Vijay Devarakonda said, "Everybody is given a name by his/her parents. We try to earn a good name for ourselves as grown up individuals. It's this film which gave me a recognition. We all enjoyed ourselves doing it. The result is there for all to see."
Ritu Varma said, "I got to do a very good role in 'Pelli Choopulu'. I felt strongly about the character. I am happy that everyone is appreciating my performance."
Raj Kandukuri said, "We believed in the content and made this film with newcomers. We added several more theatres after the theatrical release."
D Suresh Babu said, "This is a brilliant unit. I enjoyed myself while watching it. As we had faith in the content, we arranged special screenings even before the film's release. This is a big hit among small movies."
Tharun Bhascker said, "I didn't expect that this film would come this far. In fact, we were not sure if it will see a release. Despite those doubts, all of us enjoyed while shooting."
Nandini Reddy said, "It's great that a small film has turned out to be this big a hit. It's very difficult to make a small film. If convincing the producer is one thing, D Suresh Babu garu came forward to release it. This film's success has given a boost to our industry."
Madhura Sridhar Reddy said, "As soon as I watched the movie, I told beforehand that it will be a hit. This film has heralded a new beginning in Tollywood."
Yash Rangineni said, "This film has got all emotions. I am happy to have been associated with this feel-good movie."
