Weeks after its release, 'Pelli Choopulu' has become a sleeper hit of sorts in the US. The news is that it has crossed the coveted USD 1M in the US, thereby becoming one of the biggest Tollywood blockbusters overseas.

Directed by debutante Tharun Bhascker, it is wowing the domestic constituency as well. At the end of 20 days, the rom-com's all-India (which includes the Telugu States, Bengaluru and Chennai) share was pegged at Rs. 7.10 cr till date, that is. The movie has fetched profits by a record number of times for the distributors, with the US's distributor mopping up profits by more than 30 times the company's investment.

Its overall market is now pegged at more than Rs. 13 cr. This is spectacular for a film made on a shoestring budget with fresh talent. Vijay Devarakonda and Ritu Varma are on a high, so also producer Raj Kandukuri.
