In last few years, actress Priyanka Chopra rose to become an international celebrity. Its evident that fame comes with its perks. Recently, the actress used her position to make an appeal to US government to come forward to aid India amidst the Covid-19 crisis. She tagged US president Joe Biden in a tweet where she emphasised that USA ordered 550 million extra vaccine doses than required and urged America to share those with India.
Her tweet read, "My heart breaks. India is suffering from COVID19 & the US has ordered 550M more vaccines than needed @POTUS @WHCOS @SecBlinken @JakeSullivan46 Thx for sharing AstraZeneca worldwide, but the situation in my country is critical."
"Will you urgently share vaccines with India?"
Priyanka's appeal met with mixed reception. While some of her fans appreciated her move, a few were there to point out that she is tad too late to make such an demand. A user wrote, "This tweet was required at least 2 weeks back. You shouldn’t have waited for #VaxLive campaign to tweet for your fellow countrymen."
