In one of the biggest ever launch in Malayalam cinema, the pooja of the magnum opus Pazhassi Raja was held at Chennai Prasad Studios on Wednesday.

The producer Sree Gokulam Movies himself rolled out the red carpet for the special invitees which included the prominent and the best from the Malluwood industry.

The hero of the film Mammootty who recently came back from a short visit of Germany, Tamil superhero Sarath Kumar who is also playing an important role in the film, director Hariharan and the other crew were the main attractions of the function.

The pooja was held at a specially erected pandal outside music maestro Ilayaraja`s recording studio in Prasads.

The guest list included the doyen of Malayalam cinema, the grand old man Navodaya Appachan, veteran producer PV Gangadharan, legendary singer KJ Yesudas leading producer and distributor Swargachitra Appachan.

National Award Winner Venu is the cameraman of the film, while Jnanapith Shri. M T Vasudevan Nair has done meticulous research to write the story and screenplay for the film.

Isai Gnani Dr. Ilayaraja scores music for the lyrics of Shri.ONV Kurup.

Pazhassi Raja, a historical film depicting the bravery of the first freedom fighter from the South is based on real life incidents of the Raja.

Padmapriya, Manoj K Jayan, Kalabhavan Mani, Nedumudi Venu and Jagathy Sreekumar are also playing other important roles in the film which is to start in a few months.
