Payanigal Gavanikkavum Review
Payanigal Gavanikkavum : A light-hearted tense drama that will put a smile on your face in the end.
'Payanigal Gavanikkavum' is the latest Tamil movie released on the Aha Tamil OTT platform. It is the official Tamil remake of the highly acclaimed Malayalam film 'Vikrithi', which was released in 2019. Vikranth has reprised Suraj Venjaramoodu's role and Karunakaran has reprised Soubin Shaheer's role from the original. Ajeesh P Thomas has written this venture directed by Sakthivel Perumalsamy. Based on a true incident, the film showcases the amount of negativity that social media can bring into our life.
The story of Payanigal Gavanikkavum revolves around two people - one is Ezhilan (Vidharth), a person with hearing and speech disability and the other one is Antony (Karunakaran), a social media addict. Their paths cross on a metro train and get connected through social media. Following the encounters, the consequences they faced and how things came to an end form up the rest of the movie.
Vidharth is one of the underrated performers in Tamil cinema who deserve all the love and appreciation for his impeccable acting skills. He has always been a very mature actor and the impeccable performer has proven his calibre again with his flawless acting as Ezhilan, a person who can't talk or hear. Karunakaran is also a valuable asset to the film by fitting into the role he took up perfectly. The amount of innocence both the actors showcased on screen is the backbone of the movie. The rest of the cast has done their parts well.
'Payanigal Gavanikkavum' is surely one of those few worthy remakes which stays true to the original. The makers haven't overdone anything to spoil the film including the runtime. On the downside, the narrative made us feel that it would have been crispier if it was chopped down to 90 minutes when the movie is just 120 minutes actually. Because the principal conflict was introduced to us very late and it all felt a bit generic until they proceeded to the story. Nevertheless, this flick will leave you satisfied in the end.
Shamnath Nag's music is a cherry on the cake. Overall, Payanigal Gavanikkavum has been a heart-warming drama, which serves you all emotions in a balanced way and also questions the negativity spread by social media. At the end of the day, this is a movie that will put a smile on your face and give you a reality check.
